Actor Jonathan Crombie, best known for his role as the romantic lead in the Canadian TV series Anne of Green Gables , has died. He was 48. Crombie was adept at playing clean-cut characters of unexpected depth and warmth, and to generations of Canadians he’ll always be Gilbert Blythe to Megan Fallows’ Anne Shirley.
