New South Wales police have arrested a man wanted in connection with the death of a Chinese hospitality worker found dead in the gardens at Kings Domain in Melbourne on Saturday.

Scott Allen Miller, 42, moved to Melbourne six weeks ago and had been sleeping rough near the Melbourne Botanic Gardens, not far from where the 32-year-old woman's naked body was discovered.

The woman, who is yet to be formally identified, was approached by a man opposite the police memorial and chased across the road into the gardens near the corner of St Kilda Road and Linlithgow Avenue, police said.
